Bringing hope through color

By: KumarD

During the Night of Hope event in November, children were invited to color pages for the homeless men of Central Union Mission.  WGTS 91.9 provided a craft station in the lobby of McLean Bible Church.

“It’s a simple act, to color a page,” explained Chaplain Kumar, “but these men normally don’t receive a hand colored craft, especially by a child.”  WGTS 91.9 has a partnership with Central Union Mission, located on Massachusetts Avenue, in Washington D.C.  On January 16, the Radio Station will take over the Mission and serve all of the meals and housekeeping projects.  It will require over 150 volunteers to serve at least 2 hours during the day.

The outreach ministry of WGTS 91.9 is called, Hands and Heart.  “We want to live our faith on our sleeve, by serving just as Jesus did,” said Dixit.  The hands colored pages were delivered to the Mission on November 21.
