In triumph or tragedy

We all have seasons in life that can really test our faith. We're told "if God is for us, then who can be against us?" Yet, why does God allow us or our loved ones to suffer?

Mike Donehey, front-man for Tenth Avenue North, recently went through a season where he doubted when their guitarist Jeff's sister-in-law was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, and she was just 32 with 3 kids.

So as Mike pondered this, he wrote the song "I Have This Hope" for her so she would have these promises as she was going through chemo (which was supposed to last for up to a year). However, just 3 months later, on the day they went into the studio to record the song, she received a text from the hospital. It said her cancer was officially in remission!

While Mike realizes that not every story ends with a miracle like that, he says he wants a faith that believes God is good even while he's waiting on the miracle--that God is there in triumph and tragedy; even in our questioning and our doubt remembering Jesus is walking through those dark times with us.

Listen to Mike share the entire story behind "I Have This Hope":
